I just received my components and was testing the assembly outside the case to verify functionality before placing everything inside. The issue is that all lights come on, fans spin, but nothing appears on the monitor or boots up. I’m getting error code d6, which the manual says means "no console output devices found." The warning lights are white (VGA) and yellow-green (boot). I checked online and it seems a GPU problem might be involved. I tried several solutions: using an HDMI cable first, then a display port after removing the GPU, and finally switching to the motherboard’s HDMI/display port for integrated graphics. I unplugged and re-plugged the CPU, removed RAM sticks one at a time, used only one stick at a time, and even tried using just one RAM module. So far, nothing works. Here’s a summary of my parts:

- CPU: Intel Core i9-13900K 3 GHz 24-Core
- Cooler: Corsair iCUE H170i ELITE LCD 82.9 CFM
- Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z790-E GAMING ATX
- RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 64 GB (2 x 32 GB)
- Storage: Western Digital Black SN850X 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME SSD
- Graphics: MSI GAMING X TRIO GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB
- Power Supply: Corsair HX1200 Platinum 1200 W
- Updated: Returned the ASUS board for an MSI Z790 and now getting A1 error code

The manual indicates "IDE reset" for that error. I’ve unplugged, replugged, used different M.2 slots, swapped drives, performed CMOS resets, and even updated BIOS. The only consistent issue is the A1 error code now appearing. Any suggestions?

It seems the onboard graphics are functioning properly. The issue might lie with the CPU or motherboard. Inspect the CPU socket for bent pins and reinsert the CPU. If the hardware appears intact, the problem could be with the CPU itself or the motherboard, though without spares it's hard to confirm further. Clearing CMOS by removing the battery and reattaching it is another option, but it may not resolve the issue significantly.

They don't cooperate well with the GPU I also face issues when using any 60 or 70 chipset (1155) with ASRock boards paired with my 9500GT RMA board

I inspected for bent pins and debris; everything seems fine. I attempted to re-seat the CPU but had no success. Removing the CMOS battery and reinserting it after a minute also failed. It looks like I might need to swap out the motherboard.

I exchanged the ASUS motherboard for the MSI MPG Z790 Carbon WiFi Gaming version. Now it’s displaying the A1 error instead of the expected “IDE reset.” I’ve unplugged and plugged everything back, used various M.2 slots for my NVMe drive, swapped out another NVMe card, performed a CMOS reset, updated the BIOS, flashed both GPU and integrated graphics, and even tried with just one RAM stick. The only noticeable change is the A2 error code appearing now. Any suggestions?

Have you attempted clearing all storage to check for a successful POST?
