The specific keys for muting the mic and adjusting screen brightness via F8/F9/F10 don't function as expected. Most other Fn+F shortcuts operate correctly (like sleep or volume changes). The audio output toggle LED doesn't change color like it should; it stays steady regardless of state.

I purchased a used laptop expecting a clean setup with all drivers and basic apps. I reformatted the drive and reinstalled Windows using the same key as the original machine. Before that, I was amazed by the numerous hotkeys and tested everything thoroughly.

I installed most available drivers from HP's website for my model. I skipped webcam, fingerprint, and some storage slot drivers since I wasn't confident. The driver page showed matching results. I checked Device Manager for the keyboard driver, which auto-installed "Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard for HP Hotkey Support."

I ran HP's automated driver checker, but it reported no missing drivers. I used HP Image Assistant, which indicated my system wasn't supported. Searching online, I found others reporting success with the "Hp hotkey support" driver. I downloaded it, but after reinstalling and restarting, nothing changed.

I verified the "Human Interface Device Service" was running, then manually started it. I reached out to the seller for driver links, but they didn't reply after a month.

On the positive side, my laptop (HP ZBook 15 G1) runs Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and has no issues with these keys. The Wi-Fi toggle works properly with its dedicated driver. My SSD partition used for Linux Mint didn't affect the problem.

I've tried various fixes: updated BIOS, changed storage layout, reinstalled drivers, and even considered a different laptop. I'm hoping someone can assist without needing to call HP support.
