My specs include a 5950X with PBO, an EVGA 3080FTW3 Ultra and the Precision X1 auto "overclock" curve, 32GB of 3600MHz RAM, a monitor resolution of 3440x1440 at 120Hz. I've reviewed many discussions but none resolved the problem for me. When playing GTA, frame rates hover in the 60s and 70s with brief stutters, making it feel like frames freeze temporarily—especially problematic during fast driving. The Nvidia performance overlay shows around 160fps at idle, 105 or 140 for 99% performance, but drops to 60-70fps while driving downtown, with the 99% falling to about 20fps. GPU usage is roughly 50-60%, CPU around 10-20%. Temperatures are about 65°C on the GPU and 60°C on the CPU. I've experimented with various graphics settings without much improvement. I thought better performance was possible, but it hasn't materialized. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The game exhibits fps issues and slow performance in maps and menus when vsync isn't enabled at least halfway, whether globally or specifically for GTA5. My own experience shows the maps and menus were very slow, but these problems didn’t affect gameplay directly—only in menus, which might vary depending on when you access the map. The cause was excessive fps in menus and the game engine struggling, leading to a chugging effect. Once I enabled vsync, it resolved the issue.

If vsync doesn't work, consider this CSGO guide: adjust affinity settings, experiment with different GeForce drivers, ensure chipset drivers are up-to-date, and disable fullscreen optimization under compatibility for GTA5 and other titles.

Uncertain about the connection, the game exhibits FPS issues and slow performance in maps and menus when VSync isn't enabled at least halfway through NvidiaCP, whether worldwide or specifically for GTA5. Personally, I noticed sluggishness only in menus, not during actual gameplay, though this might vary if you access the map later. The problem stemmed from excessive FPS in menus and the engine struggling to handle it, causing a slowdown. Once VSync was resolved, the issue disappeared. If VSync doesn't work, consider adjusting affinity settings in the CSGO guide or testing a different GeForce driver. Ensure chipset drivers are up-to-date and try disabling fullscreen optimization under compatibility for GTA5 and related files.
