Issues with hibernation
I'm using LM XFCE 18.1 (just upgraded). Every time I attempt to hibernate, it fails. This issue has persisted since before the update, unrelated to that. I've experimented with various kernels without success. The typical behavior during hibernation attempts is: the system shuts down completely, it appears to hibernate briefly, then either freezes and restarts or triggers a kernel panic—often locking the screen before crashing. It restarts or powers off without warning. I've experienced these errors both before and after the update, so it's not a new problem. This is important for me because I rely on hibernation for certain tasks, and I'm currently using a USB drive instead of a live disk. (Sorry if this isn't the right forum; I didn’t find a better place after the Linux subforum.)
Sorry but I have to ask the obvious... do you have a swap partition that's large enough to store the amount of currently used RAM?
You're right, I've been dealing with computers since I was a kid. Everyone makes mistakes, but I didn't set up a swap partition because I wasn't happy with how Linux (or Windows) handled swapping. I was in a rush and skipped it. Once you pointed out my error, I'll fix it right away. Thanks!
