Recently I restored GTAV and began playing online, but encountered a persistent problem that remains unresolved.
The issue appears intermittently, without a fixed time window, occurring randomly and inconsistently. It mainly happens while driving.
The game becomes frozen for about 10 to 20 seconds before restarting on its own. When I disconnect from the server or mission I’m in, it stops.
However, there are times when it freezes briefly but doesn’t disconnect me.
This problem doesn’t appear linked to my internet connection (tested on another device with no issues).
I’ve tried numerous solutions and suggestions I’ve seen; the next step is to reinstall the game completely.
Additionally, an error appears in Event Viewer:
Faulting application name: GTA5.exe, version: 1.0.2215.0, time stamp: 0x601317d1
Faulting module name: ucrtbase.dll, version: 10.0.19041.789, time stamp: 0x2bd748bf
Exception code: 0xc0000409
Fault offset: 0x000000000007286e
Faulting process id: 0x3074
Faulting application start time: 0x01d70b37232a9f85
Faulting application path: E:\steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V\GTA5.exe
Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\System32\ucrtbase.dll
Report Id: dc1f526e-5cf0-4bbf-b3cb-156b56e4b428
Faulting package full name:
Faulting package-relative application ID:
Help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated; I’m open to trying different approaches and will clarify any questions I have.
From what I recall, I’ve done the following:
- Adjusted in-game settings to extreme levels.
-Changed the game to an SSD via Steam.
-Verified multiple times.
- Used the NVidia control panel fixes (like shader cache).
-Disabled Fullscreen optimization on the three files mentioned.
-Unplugged USB cables from my computer.
-Upgraded all available drivers.
-Monitored CPU and GPU usage, temperatures staying around 65-75°C (not excessively hot).
-Closed all background applications.
-Run a system check via cmd with "sfc scannow" (some files fixed, but errors persist).
-Ran as administrator.
-Set the process to high in the control panel.
-Turned off Win Defender (no other antivirus installed).
-Adjusted firewall exceptions (removed and readded previously).
Other factors I’m unsure about, since it’s been a long process trying to resolve this.
My PC specifications: Intel i5-8600k, 3.6GHz, 16GB RAM, Nvidia 960ti

I believe there might be missing or corrupted files in your game, so consider reinstalling it.

I attempted this today but the game kept crashing. Now there are no errors in Event Viewer. I cleared all my Rockstar or GTA-related drives before reinstalling.

It seems like you're running low on VRAM, but it's unclear what game you're playing. You mentioned setting everything to low, but the issue persists. Please ensure all settings are adjusted to low or off, try using 1080p, and disable Shadowplay to see if performance improves.

I've got everything set low, and im on 1080p.
Shadowplay is disabled, as well as Xbox Game Bar.
Monitoring my Vram shows it hovering at 80-90%. However im not sure how accurate it is. And the crashes dont seem to lower the vram usage at all.
Currently waiting on an order for the Nvidia 3070, so I'll end up finding out if this is GPU related... however honestly im not entirely convinced it is.
Thanks for the help though
