Issues with Grand Theft Auto V updates have been reported by players.

I bought the physical version of GTA V last month. My console stopped working and a replacement arrived last week. The game requires a 5GB update to function properly. My friend already installed the update and is now playing. I’m wondering if copying his entire game folder and replacing it with mine will let me avoid the update. I’ve started downloading, but it’s downloading at about 50kbps—this should take a long time.

It should function, though relocating 60GB might slow things down (depending on the system). Since you and he are playing GTA V, copying could likely be quicker.

Yes, it functions correctly. Replace the "update" folder and launch Social Club. Note: You don’t have to transfer the whole folder; copying is optional, but opening Social Club will check files and begin the game.

It's quite a bit for friends. Transferring via a USB 3 HDD at 100MBS shouldn't cause any issues.

If it's not mandatory there is no need for me to copy the full game I guess. Now tell me should I delete Update folder or overwrite it ?

If you replace the whole folder, it behaves like removing and then recreating it. Same result.

It functioned properly. I saved the entire game and the social club confirmed within about half a minute after checking the files. Thanks a lot, everyone!
