I recently changed my CPU from a Ryzen 5 4500 to a Ryzen 5 5600x and noticed crashes during startup or midgame every few minutes. I've tried various solutions. I upgraded from Windows 10 22H2 to Windows 11 24H2, then downgraded to Windows 11 to 23H2 (current version). Temperatures stayed normal before crashes, around 50-60°C for both GPU and CPU. My PSU is delivering full power. I’m unsure what’s causing the problem—please help me.

Specs: Ryzen 5 5600x B450 Aorus Pro rev 1.0, 32GB DDR4, 2666MHz RAM, Asus Strix GTX 1070 EVGA, 600W PSU.

Restart CMOS, refresh BIOS settings, turn on XMP/EXPO features, remove existing chipset drivers, add fresh drivers

Have you reinstalled Windows? I’ve seen many updates, upgrades, and downgrades, but it’s best to start from scratch and install a brand new version when replacing a crucial part such as the CPU. Good luck!

I would follow every recommendation WereCat made, since it would be identical to what I would have advised.

The BIOS is running the most recent update. I performed the update before starting the installation.

I attempted to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 24H2, then to 23H2, but the problems persisted. Every clean installation with Rufus continued to encounter the same issues.

Inspected the CPU for bent pins and monitored its temperatures.

CPU appears to have straight pins. Currently testing my old CPU to check if the new one is the issue; the 5600x seems to be the problem. I've been gaming for about four hours without any crashes. Temperatures were stable around 60 before a crash occurred. I recently received a B550 and it arrived yesterday. I plan to replace the motherboards later to test if that resolves the issue.
