Hello,
I've looked through forums and subreddits but found nothing relevant for my problem.
My GPU time stays above 20ms (usually below 5) and FPS plummets into the 40s once I reach the game search screen, which then affects gameplay and makes it unplayable.
I completely wiped and reinstalled drivers using DDU, but the game runs perfectly until I restart my PC. The same happens after a driver rollback.
I've adjusted video settings, used DDU, modified Windows settings, updated BIOS, reinstalled the game—still no success.
When I run in-game benchmarks, the GPU is at 100% and CPU around 8-10%, as seen with the afterburner overlay.
Anyone else have experienced this issue?

PC specs: 10700k 3080
edit: updated thread title to reflect it occurs in demanding games.

To see what issues might exist, try visiting run userbenchmark.com and sharing the resulting link, such as https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/28977730. Restore BIOS via jumper settings like clrCMOS or JBAT, then adjust boot priority accordingly. Verify Windows integrity using the command prompt with DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth. Follow the guide on lifewire for opening an elevated command prompt: https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-open-an-...pt-2618088. Refer to Microsoft support for clean boot instructions: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...em...5b60477a93. Perform a clean boot in Windows 8.1, 8, 7 or Vista and note the process. Test memory with memtest.org on a bootable USB, run RAM at 2133MHz, inspect the hard drive using manufacturer tools, update firmware if needed, and use ddu uninstaller in safe mode to reinstall graphics drivers.

Thank you for the update.
UserBenchmark reports the results of the MSI MPG Z490 GAMING EDGE WIFI Performance Tests.
I plan to complete the other suggested tasks once I return from work.
I tried running DDU in safe mode, but it didn’t help. The game works well when I restart Windows and connect to the internet to download drivers, though performance drops after a reboot.

I've tried the same steps again but the problem persists.
The firmware on the hard drive was current, only the Western Digital software needed updating.
Windows integrity checks were performed using sfc and dism scans; errors were detected and resolved.
As before, I ran ddu in safe mode.
I attempted to run RAM without XMP profiles, yet performance remains affected.
Userbenchmark results have been repeated, showing consistent outcomes.

verify the temperature and power limits of the GPU
use tools such as GPU-Z
are there any software like Afterburner or Evga Precision installed?
is there a dual BIOS setup, and which one is active?

Fixed it but don't know what the problem was.
I ran cod benchmark while using the log data function in gpu-z, looked over the log data and found that the gpu throttles down to 225mhz like a second into the benchmark, you mentioned afterburner and everything looked fine but I increased power limit to 105% from 100% and all performance issues went away, even reverting it back to 100% the performance was still good.
Thanks for the help,
Cheers.👍
