I assisted my friend in moving his setup from a Ryzen setup to an Intel platform and reinstalling the operating system. After updating the BIOS, fresh installing Windows, adding graphics and chipset drivers, and restoring his old titles, the system began behaving oddly. Since I can't fully examine it right now, he reports that after two days of stable operation post-upgrade, 'most games' suddenly crash to desktop without clear cause. He mentions seeing 'drivercore' errors and a message linked to Borderlands 3 crashing. Games from various platforms—Genshin, Borderlands, Apex, Rust—all tend to freeze or terminate unexpectedly. He’s been running Cinebench stress tests to check hardware health, but after intermittent testing, no overheating or failed benchmarks have appeared. He suspects a software problem rather than a hardware fault, noting he has the latest NVIDIA drivers and BIOS updates, and doubts any auto-OC settings in Intel’s BIOS could be triggering instability. I’m unsure how to explain this to him and aren’t sure where to start troubleshooting. We’ve confirmed file integrity on Steam games, but the issue persists. I’m reaching out for advice and would appreciate any guidance you can provide. Please feel free to share any insights—your help would be invaluable. I’ll include a link to his complete system build if anyone needs to review it.
Disconnect the SATA and power cords, then reinstall the NVMe drive(s).

mdsched.exe is Windows' built-in tool for checking memory health. Using it before memtest86 is wise since it's part of the operating system, avoids extra steps like using flash drives, and provides a quick overall memory assessment without being as detailed or time-consuming as memtest86.
