Issues with FPS on an RX 550 during League of Legends
I've noticed a friend experiencing significant FPS drops in League of Legends. The game often freezes to around 35-50 frames within the first half of the match, starting near 140 FPS and then dropping rapidly. After reinstalling GPU drivers and the game itself, no improvement occurred. Windows updates were applied but didn't resolve the issue. I've considered reinstalling Windows, though that would be challenging without being nearby. I also adjusted the GPU settings to boost performance and increased the fan speed temporarily, but results were inconsistent. Interestingly, the game sometimes displayed high VRAM usage, yet after a drive reinstall it returned to normal. This wasn't an issue before; the performance was solid. The PC specs are: CPU - FX-6300 (no overheating), GPU - AMD RX550 Mobo, RAM - 8GB 1866MHz, and an SSD storage device.
35-40 C marks the full operating range of the CPU. I’ve secured it and reduced the voltage at its base clock of 3.5 GHz. I’m confident it’s a GPU issue—either hardware or software is affecting the graphics card. The motherboard temperatures are normal, reaching up to around 55°C on the hottest components if accurate.
