He's correct. Consider increasing the frequency to 4Ghz. If you're fortunate with the chip selection, you could achieve 4.2Ghz, which would significantly improve performance for WoT.

It's widely understood in the WoT scene that AMD processors struggle with demanding games. While reasonably clocked C2D/C2Q tend to perform better than nearly all other high-end chips, even the most extreme overclocked models can face challenges. A lot of calculations happen while the game runs, keeping a core locked at 100% for the entire session.

They didn't add full multicore support until a few updates with HD texture patches.

The game engine in World Of Tanks performs poorly. Begin by turning off shadows and lowering water quality settings. You can also use Task Manager to adjust the number of cores the game uses—limit it to just two instead of all eight. Additionally, set the game’s process priority to high.

They merely transferred some Havok physics work to the second core, but it doesn’t offer true multicore capabilities. Performance remains poor.

They delayed the move to multi-core computing until the full destructible environments were available.

WoT relies heavily on strong single-core speed. The FX unit performs poorly here. Try pushing it to its limits, but results won’t match an Intel chip.

I also enjoy playing WoT regularly, having been doing so for about three years now. Although my GPU isn't powerful, I have a solid CPU and experience with the game's performance issues. It tends to lag a lot because WoT is one of the least optimized titles available. I usually run it at the lowest settings to achieve better frame rates.

The issue lies elsewhere, not with your setup. WOT chose the most affordable engine, which is Big World. Its ancient version matches the same DX9 engine used in Xbox 360. Test War Thunder or similar titles to verify.

You chose an unsuitable CPU for WoT. 1 - With a strong GPU, raise graphics settings to their maximum before performance drops, transferring rendering work to the GPU. 2 - Modify your core assignment. Launch Task Manager, navigate to "Processes," locate WorldOfTanks.exe (or similar), right-click and select "Set Affinity." Uncheck all but the last two entries (typically "Core 6" and "Core 7"), then click Apply. The OS handles most operations on the first core, ensuring sufficient idle cores for smooth play. 3 - Identify the problem area. Install MSI Afterburner, enable the OSD to display GPU usage. Open Task Manager, switch to "Performance," keep it active, and launch WoT. If your GPU stays at full capacity but FPS remains low, lower graphics settings. If a single CPU core is locked at 100%, your system may lack power, so consider an overclock or adjust settings—WoT should function normally with Big World, though multithreaded physics are still pending improvement.
