issues with FPS in Borderless Mode
issues with FPS in Borderless Mode
Hello!
The issue is:
I play various games and they all work well in FullScreen. However, since I'm also streaming, it would be much easier to run these games in Borderless mode, allowing me to interact with the streaming software without the game freezing on the screen.
But if I switch to Borderless in almost any game, one of these things happens:
- The FPS (shown by Afterburner) remains stable, around 165-200, but the monitor refresh drops to about 60Hz, which is noticeable (for example, with Pubg)
- The FPS is simply reduced to exactly 60 frames per second. (For instance, Rainbow 6)
Configuration:
9900k
2080Ti Gigabyte Gaming OC
ViewSonic XG2703 (165hz, 1440p)
Another monitor at 60Hz for 1080p
Settings & Programs
:
Windows 10 64bit
StreamlabsOBS (NVENC [new] / Hardware acceleration off)
GSync ON
Have you encountered this problem before?
I've noticed that Gsync has a similar issue with some Windows 10 updates, and NVIDIA says it's fixed.
Any advice, articles, or forum discussions related to this problem would be appreciated.
Have a great day!
R.
This might come across as unexpected, but if you're using discord while playing games, consider running discord without it active. There used to be many strange problems with Discord's overlay.
If the problems disappear when discord is turned off, you can still disable its in-game overlay—though I can't pinpoint the exact location right now, so closing it seems safest.
Also, have you verified your Vsync/FPS limits after switching screen modes?
