Issues with Fallout 4 installation requirements
The actual demands for Fallout 4 are extreme, yet people seem more annoyed by the reaction than by the requirements themselves. I've read online comments suggesting the game isn’t that bad compared to Battlefield, even though Fallout’s specs are way tougher. Isn’t everyone ignoring the need for a 330 USD CPU to run it at high settings? No one recalls the old expectations for an i3 processor. Now it seems even an i3 doesn’t meet the minimum? What am I missing? Why aren’t those without the expensive CPU upset me?

The lowest specs are actually pretty reasonable, matching a Haswell i3. The i7 suggestion seems overkill and won't make much difference. A Haswell i5 should perform just as well as the i7 recommended. Bethesda titles tend to rely more on the CPU than the graphics card.
The i3-6300t for Battlefront seems like it would be on par with the old i5-2300. I could be wrong, but I'm confident they're similar. The i7 they recommend is probably because the game is open-world, not like Battlefront. There's more stuff going on in those kinds of games than in FPS's I would imagine. Nothing wrong here. Only thing I see that's flat out retarded is how they're saying shit like "Thankfully, these are more reasonable than those for Battlefront and my PC should do the job, which is excellent news." (from PCGamer) when they're almost similar.
It's a lot of fluff, you won't see much gain switching from an i5 to an i7 in games. This has been proven many times before. If the game really demands that CPU for high or ultra performance, it's clearly not well optimized. I wouldn't hesitate to skip it unless we get more real-world benchmarks soon. To be honest, the recommended specs usually apply to 4K at ultra settings. It seemed similar with MGS too—my CPU didn’t match the specs, but I still maintained around 60fps at 4K.
