Issues with elevated idle temperatures on the 3900X

The CPU tends to stay idle around 61°C most of the time. Reducing its idle voltage to 55°C works well. In gaming situations it climbs to 84°C but never hits the 95°C limit. The cooling system uses an H100i AIO 240". I'm using Thermal Grizzly's Conductonaut liquid metal, which makes things even more unusual. I also tried a regular paste from Nuctua to see if it's the problem. The stock voltage is 1.4 (a bit high) at 3800Mhz, while the OC is 1.475 at 4450Mhz for all cores. Idle temps are around 65°C, which is normal. Undervolting to 1.2V at idle temps of 3500°C brings it down to 55°C. The room is always kept cool with air conditioning. What might I be overlooking?

Are you referring to Conductonaut or mixing it up with Kryonaut? Conductonaut is a liquid metal compound. You’d need a protective barrier around the CPU to prevent it from leaking.

Conductonaut definitely works. If used properly (though I’m not sure if I did), then no obstacles are needed. Still, my CPU might fail. It’s my third try, and everything seems fine so far.

They're moving forward with this project. Corsair produces low-quality accessories. I'm considering the Lian Li Galahad 360.

I checked out the Galahad mainly since it’s more affordable. The Arctic was another option I considered because it tends to perform better. However, I’m not really in need of an AIO at all. I still receive the full boost.

I've noticed my engine running at 5900 RPM with idle around 25c and 21c on the cylinders, depending on the room temperature. Just with air conditioning, it works fine; winter should be ideal.

Your room stays consistently cool at 23-21 degrees with the air conditioner running continuously.

I switched back to a standard thermal paste from Noctua. The temperatures stayed the same. At first, the liquid metal didn’t show any changes, and overall performance remained consistent. WHAT’S GOING ON?
