Issues with dual channel setup.
Issues with dual channel setup.
Hey there, I'm almost ready to purchase a new motherboard but I think it's worth getting your thoughts on it. I've looked into many discussions about this issue, tried various fixes, but nothing seems to work—just RAM in slots 1 and 2, no boot in dual channel, and everything looks fine after cleaning the CPU socket, checking pins, and even resetting CMOS without success. The heat sink isn't damaged either. I've also tried overclocking it. With my current setup—Aorus B450 Elite V2, Ryzen 5 3600, Sapphire RX 6700 XT, HyperX Fury 2400MHz, and a 2x8GB DDR4 kit—I'm not sure what else to try next. My PSU is Corsair with 650W, and I have a Samsung 980 Pro 500GB NVME drive plus a 1TB HDD. What advice would you have?
Have you checked both RAM slots 2 and 4 for any issues? It seems the problem might be with the RAM itself rather than the slots. Try inserting both slots together in slots 1 and 2 to see if it boots.
The main issue is that dual-channel isn't functioning, and the system only starts with RAM in slots 1 and 2. You have two drives connected to an 8GB RAM setup.
Did you purchase this board new or used? Also, could you reach out to Gigabyte support since it seems like the RAM slots are damaged and aren’t repairable on your own?
The board might be faulty or the CPU memory controller is defective. Slots 1-2 operate on one channel, while slots 3-4 are on another. Your issue indicates the memory channel for slots 3-4 is not functioning. I’d likely replace the CPU first and bring it to a local repair shop to test it in a different motherboard—easier than swapping an entire board. If the problem persists, return it for replacement.
