Issues with Display Port and HDMI cables have been reported.
Hello Friends
I recently installed a new case and added the AMD Radeon RX 6700 10GB graphics card from my previous system, assuming it would still work well. But when I connected the display port cable between the new case and the monitor, no image appeared on the screen even though I chose the display port output on the monitor. To fix this, I switched to an HDMI v2.0 cable and the screen started showing. Still facing some issues...
1. Why isn’t there any display when using the Display Port cable after upgrading the case? Would switching to a different Display Port cable help? Any suggestions on brands?
2. When connecting the HDMI cable, the maximum refresh rate is 60Hz, but my OS lists it as 60Hz in advanced display settings. Why can’t I get a 144Hz option even with an HDMI v2.0 cable?
Thanks

Update your post with complete hardware details and operating system information. Provide PSU specifications, including make, model, wattage, age, and condition (original, build, refurbished, used). List all connected peripherals. Specify whether the network is wired or wireless. Test the cable on other functioning systems to ensure no display issues. Double-check monitor settings after installation. Note that performance depends on the highest supported refresh rate along the connection path, such as 60 Hz for advanced displays.
The monitor only supports HDMI 1.4, which doesn't allow 1080p at 144Hz but should handle 120Hz. It seems they might have restricted the refresh rate through the HDMI connection. The product description mentions needing DP/Dual link DVI-D for 144Hz compatibility. Regarding the DP connection issue, it's difficult to determine without more details.

I finished the build by integrating a 500 GB SSD (A-Data Legend 800), two mechanical HDDs (1 TB+4 TB) and an AMD Radeon RX 6700 10 GB GPU from my earlier system.
All motherboard and GPU drivers are up to date, and I’m running Windows 10 version 22H2.
I wasn’t sure why certain hardware specifics, peripherals, or internet connection types would influence monitor refresh rates.
- I’ll test the cables on another machine, and my monitor didn’t revert to its default settings. It remains configured as per my own preferences.
@Stryker
I’ll investigate the refresh rate details of my monitor’s HDMI port.
Regarding DP... the Radeon RX 6700 supports x3 DP. I’ve tested various cables, but none functioned properly. I’m planning to try a different DP cable next...
Have you performed a fresh installation of Windows 10? Could upgrading to Windows 11 be something you're considering?
According to the manual for that monitor, only DVI and DP will exceed 60 Hz (last pages). If DP is not displaying anything, and even the BIOS screen doesn’t appear during boot, it’s unlikely a driver problem exists. Inspect the DP cable connection into the graphics card. Particularly after moving to a new case, slight interference from the frame around the PCI opening can cause No Signal. I experienced this with my Pulse 6700XT and a previous case—occasionally the monitor would show No Signal. Even though the cable seemed correct, adjusting it slightly into the back of the graphics card restored the signal. It’s unclear if this is typical for DisplayPort or related to specific card or cable brands. If this doesn’t resolve the issue, switching to a different DP cable might help.
Regarding the correct setup of the DP cable... I opened the case, removed the two screws holding the GPU in place, and slightly bent the GPU to make the DP sockets visible. Then I connected the DP cable to each of the three DP sockets on the GPU, but nothing seemed to change. At least this issue was resolved. Thanks for the suggestion.
