MSI GF65 Thin Gaming Laptop Intel i5-9th Gen, 16GB RAM, GTX 1660ti – odd troubleshooting problems… I had to swap out the original AC adapter because it failed. I bought a third-party 180watt power adapter from Amazon, recommended by MSI. They’re currently out of stock, or I could order one directly from them. The battery performs well under light use and when the laptop is off. During heavy gaming sessions in World of Warcraft or similar, the battery drops to 95% and then shuts down immediately, restarting when plugged back in, only to show 0% charge and fail to charge. It restarts again and reaches full charge quickly. Windows charging alerts suggest three possible causes: the battery might be faulty, the aftermarket adapter is defective, or the motherboard battery controller could be damaged.

It seems there might be some confusion. Could you clarify what you mean by "chrager" and "laptop battery"? Are you asking about a specific device or feature?

But gaming uses power really quickly, especially with the latest systems. A 9th gen core i5 might need a battery soon.

It indicates the battery remains functional. It supports USB-C charging. If it functions, use that method to charge up to 100% during light usage (not gaming). If not, the adapter is likely faulty.

Unfortunately, USB-C charging isn't available.
