Hello, I'm having some issues with my PC setup.
I switched the graphics card from GTX 970 to MSI RTX 2060 Ventus OC 6G.
After using DDU to install the new drivers, I experienced frequent crashes after each match.
These crashes happen every time, not just in-game but also during menus—only one match can be played at a time.
FPS is decent, temperatures stay under 75°C.
After reinstalling the game, it keeps crashing or restarting my PC.
No crash logs are left behind.
I ran several benchmarks: FireStream, Heaven, Asus benchmark, and an Intel stress test—all passed.
The only consistent crash is during the Time Spy benchmark on the third try.
I also tried lowering the GPU overclock, but the problem persists.
Playing PUBG, Shadow of War, GTA V, and Rainbow Six Siege all at Ultra settings worked fine.
Maybe the instability comes from my PC or the game itself?
I’ve considered sending back the graphics card, but I’m unsure what’s causing it.
I’ve tried changing the GPU to administrator mode, adjusting CPU settings, and modifying driver versions.
My friend can play normally with my GTX 970 and the latest drivers.
I’ve also downgraded the drivers to an older version (430.39), but the issue continues.
One thing is certain: the game never crashes during gameplay or while loading matches—just in menus, like creating a class or searching for a match.
Should I try using a different card slot? I’m running out of options.

It appears the issue is unique to Black Ops 4 ESP, especially after playing many intense sessions without problems. Regarding crashes, it could be either a crash-to-desktop or a full system crash that forces a restart.

Hey! Glad you're following through. Just to rephrase, you want to restart the whole system and check if that helps, since the GPU change didn't work. You also asked about other steps like a clean install or formatting.

-Reinstall your drivers again if needed
-Is there a crash-log system in the game? Try locating the information... Once found, share it with the cod community to identify crash causes, especially since I don’t play much bo4
-
Monitor temperatures during troubleshooting and compare them with other games
-If nothing works, consider reinstalling the physical GPU or moving it to a different slot to test
-Did this cause a BSOD on your system as well?
Note:
It might be a game-specific issue affecting optimization for your GPU. This is one of the rare cases I’ve heard a game crash an entire system.

So I updated and installed the older drivers with and without the 3D vision features and physix, but nothing worked. The game can't save any crash information. I spoke to a Battle.net representative who suggested some troubleshooting steps, but nothing changed. My GPU temperature stays at a safe 77°C during heavy benchmarks—even after underclocking with Time Spy it didn’t cause crashes. I experience occasional BSODs that force the PC to shut down or restart on its own. In the Event Viewer I see a Kernel Power Error 41, but only when forced to restart after a crash. I plan to format the system and reinstall Windows to see if that resolves the issue. Thanks for your support so far!

A CPU overclock is also possible. My underperforming i7 8700k would cause my modded Fallout 4 to crash with any overclock. The same save with the same mods didn’t cause crashes on my i7 8086k at 5ghz across all cores. Your computer specs show they’re quite similar. After upgrading to a RTX 2080 ti(FTW3 Ultra), the card would crash in Cinebench stock even at 4.7mhz if any overclock was present on the CPU. The i7 8700k had to be replaced. I’ve also experienced crashes from XMP and GPU factory overclock settings. Putting the GPU in debug mode always resolved the issue.

The unusual aspect is that it occurs only with this game, specifically Black Ops. I attempted to lower the GPU clock and the Time Spy benchmark stopped crashing. Other games worked without issues. The temperatures on both GPU and CPU remain normal. I format all drives and reinstall Windows; it resolved for about two seconds before continuing to crash, especially in the menus. Only Black Ops 4 handled this, and even then it crashed after reaching the menu, forcing a restart.

That is a tough one.
The only way I know how to troubleshoot this sort of thing is to swap out parts.
To do that you need the parts, so you may be stuck.
It may be the chips set on you motherboard degrading but you would have to have a spare ti test. Use a different SATA port.
It also could be that the menu does a DLL call and the DLL wants a permission or does not like your setup. Move the game to another location.
If it has to load the menu from disk it could be the HDD/SSD controller. Move it to another drive.
I have recently had to move Steam from the default location to its own folder because of permissions issues. I have had Steam in the default location since Steam began with no issue. Why now.
Good Luck.

I'll attempt to relocate the game to a different disk. Appreciate your assistance! I'll let you know once it's resolved.
