I'm really enjoying Battlefield 1, but I'm feeling annoyed by the overall lack of performance regardless of my settings. I'm running on everything low with a 1080-1920 resolution. My system specs are a Windows 7 16GB RAM Intel i5 4690K overclocked to 4.2 GHz, paired with an Evga GTX 970. At medium settings, the game runs smoothly at around 90-150 FPS. I have a 144Hz monitor, but I don't mind using it for this title (I bought it for CS:GO). Now I'm stuck at 60 FPS and disabling VSync completely. I've checked for updates and fixed a reset issue. Edit: resolved the problem on November 3, 2016 by Majorllama

You can run everything at ultra settings with 1080P resolution while maintaining MSAA at double the standard. Your 970 model with a 3579K clock speed of 4.5ghz previously struggled with performance drops into the 70s and 80s.

Absolutely, that’s exactly what I was considering. But I’m expecting the low 20s when I submit, and it looks like things are deteriorating as I go. Not sure what I’m doing incorrectly. Should I push the overclock further?

Avoid pushing beyond normal speeds anymore; if you've already done so, revert it back. Overclocking can lead to issues, so reset and check performance. Make sure your resolution setting matches exactly at 100%—any higher may cause rendering errors. Also, ensure DX12 mode isn't set to 11, as 12 is problematic.

I'm currently using dx11. The scale slider is set to 100% on its own.

We both share the same setup buddy. My CPU is maxed out at 100% in Battlefield 1 while the GPU stays around 30-70%. I also face frame drops, stuttering, screen freezes—only in Battlefield 1. My machine: i5-4670 GTX 1060 with 6GB RAM, 8GB storage, 1600MHz RAM.

If your GPU usage stays between 30-40%, it suggests a throttling problem. It should operate around 90-99%. A solid fix is a hard reset: power off the PC and either disable the power switch on the PSU or unplug it from the wall, holding the power button for about 10 seconds several times. After rebooting, your GPU performance should reach near 90-100% usage. Running the CPU at or near 100% doesn’t necessarily indicate a struggle; mine fluctuates between the high 70s and close to 100% during certain games.

My CPU and GPU are running at high capacity. I've tried all possible solutions. Right now, I'm focusing on avoiding close encounters. Long-range shooting is my preferred activity.

It indicates you'll require improved hardware to achieve higher frame rates. Based on my observations, a 6700K and GTX 1070 should suffice for seamless gameplay.
