I possess an Asus B450 F gaming setup that functions properly with Ryzen 5 2600 and 3600. I've installed a Ryzen 5 5500 and faced significant audio problems using USB headsets, especially when overlays are active. The issue appears only when the USB headsets are selected as the audio device, regardless of the headset used. This problem occurs with all screen overlays or when certain graphics are hovered over in Steam and other applications. I've tested various NVIDIA drivers, switched GPUs, and even changed BIOS settings from 1.5V to 1.2V, but the issue persists without DOCP. The latest BIOS (5003) was installed on Windows 10 and 11 fresh installations. USB latency checks with Latency Mon showed normal results. I've also tried older BIOS versions and different graphics drivers. Everything else operates smoothly; CPU remains responsive and all functions are working perfectly. In the BIOS, the SOC automatically sets to 1.5V, which is unusual. I reset it to 1.2V and still encountered the same problem even without DOCP. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Is there a fire extinguisher nearby? This seems like an unusual error. Are you using the latest operating system version for the device?
Confirmed, I ran 5003 and checked earlier BIOS versions just in case. Once the 5500’s SOC auto reaches 1.5v, Windows installs the 6 AMD high-definition audio drivers (not sure why since it's not an APU), and everything except USB audio functions properly. Analog audio from the mainboard works fine too. Plus, no crashes or blue screens at all. I tried everything with default settings, swapped RAM, and considered a CPU fault, but after testing multiple 5500 models I’m still unsure—unless it’s an Asus issue with their faulty BIOS. This board originally came with Ryzen 3000/2000 and was updated to support the 5000 series.
If the problem lies with the manufacturer, it shouldn't really affect whether you use AMD or Intel. Regarding the audio issue, I've faced the same problem before, especially with USB BT devices. No matter the distance or port I used, it would stutter just like in your video. With my previous board it worked fine. My thought is there might be an USB interference or shielding issue on this motherboard. I'm currently using the same mainboard.
However, if this were true, then why do all systems function smoothly with a Ryzen 5 2600 and 3600, without any issues or lag?
Don’t feel bad for leaving AMD. They always seem to fuck up a product somehow. I have an Intel board waiting for a CPU and DDR5
Considering a purchase of 13600k, 32GB DDR5 6000 and an Asrock Z790M sounds like a big challenge. I need to figure out how to save enough for these upgrades. I plan to pass my current PC on to my son so he can use his existing GPU, and I’ll keep the 3060ti for now. Good luck with getting the CPU and RAM!
