Issues with Asus B450-F BIOS 4007 B1 & B2 RAM ports Not functioning properly
I recently purchased the Asus B450-F, opting for the B450-F instead of the Tomahawk Max since it was unavailable. I also added two 8GB Corsair Vengeance 3600MHz CL18 RAM sticks and a Ryzen 5600X. I brought the motherboard along with the CPU to a local shop to upgrade the BIOS for optimal performance. The update worked, but upon returning home, installing the RAM in slots A2 & B2 caused issues: the board lit up orange above the RAM ports and displayed only a black screen. After reviewing the manual and troubleshooting, I managed to boot by removing RAM from B1 & B2 and using just one slot or none at all. When setting the memory profile to 3600MHz, only the A2 slot functioned properly, while A1 showed an orange LED with a black screen. Is this a BIOS problem that can be resolved with an update, or should I consider returning the board? Additionally, I noticed the RAM QVL list was overlooked, and my kit isn’t there. Shouldn’t dual-channel RAM boot at stock speeds regardless of its presence on the list?
While writing, the system started up using RAM at A1 and A2, yet it keeps failing to boot with either of the B1 or B2 drives, even though a stick is present in A1/A2. A1 functions normally at regular speeds but produces the same error when the profile is set. A CMOS reset is necessary to restore functionality.
Verify your CPU and check for any bent pins. If found, the board is likely non-functional and requires replacement.
I am also running a Asus B450 F gaming with bios 4007 and a 5800x and i got the exact same problem. Does not boot with memory stick in B1 or B2 with a Ryzen 5000 processor. Works flawless with my 3800x though. When using the 5800x i do know the slots get power cause my memory sticks got LED on them and they light up when i start the computer. Running my 2 16gb sticks in A1 + A2 now w.o. any issues. Correct me if i am wrong, but wouldn't a bent pin on the CPU indicate CPU problem and not RAM problem? Edit: I do not believe it is the CPU, since more people would have this problems no matter what chip/bios they use. Edited December 23, 2020 by tarasus
It seems like the BIOS is the problem. The Ryzen 3700x works fine, but the 5000 series isn't.
