Hello, I've been working on boosting my new setup: Aorus Z390 Elite Intel i9700kf Corsair Vengeance RGB 3200MHz with Corsair CX650M. I’ve checked Gigabyte’s overclocking instructions. Here’s what happened:
First attempt → 4.8GHz/1.3V core/AVX 0 – works well in Prime95 (8+ hours on AVX, 8+ hours without).
Second attempt → 4.9GHz/1.3V core/AVX 0 – fails in Prime95 29.8 with AVX, but passes without it for 8+ hours.
Third attempt → 4.9GHz/1.3V core/AVX 1 – still fails in Prime95 29.8 with AVX, but succeeds without it for 8+ hours.
On the first and third tries, Prime95 ran at exactly 4.8GHz using AVX. Why did it stop working on the third try? Could be related to voltage stability, thermal limits, or cache behavior. You might want to:
- Verify core voltage consistency across attempts
- Check for any recent BIOS updates
- Consider adjusting voltage curves gradually
- Monitor temperatures closely

You absolutely despise having your computer running Prime 95 for eight hours. I wouldn’t risk anything with building and testing for stability. Every chip behaves differently—some might hit 5.2 GHz at 1.3V, while others need 1.45V and it’s not worth the effort. It’s better to stick with proven options that work reliably. Reviewing power tables is crucial, and getting everything right matters. If it still fails, you’ll end up with a faulty component.
I believed it needed over 8 hours to confirm stability. How long do you expect AVX support to provide?
