The G Skill Trident Z5 Neo is great.
I used to be a G Skill user and picked this RAM before building my PC. I saw a Gamers Nexus video showing that the same RAM was recommended by AMD with a 6000mhz option, which gave me confidence in my decision.
There have been no stability problems so far.
No matter what else is happening, I would swap the TUF motherboard for another brand. The High Voltage problems in ASUS BIOS setups could eventually damage your CPU. AS Rock and MSI appear to be working within the 1.30v limit.
I’ve been checking for the SOC voltage, with EXPO turned off—it was stuck at 0.94v, and when it’s enabled it goes up to 1.24v. Should I still be concerned? It’s not just about the 7800x3d CPU. I think I’ll disable EXPO now until I get the 2x32 configuration, and I hope ASUS will release an updated BIOS soon.
According to the findings of Gamers Nexus, the real voltage provided was significantly greater than what was indicated in the BIOS. (Configured at 1.30, output reached 1.41 prior to the beta bios update, remaining at 1.39 afterward). This occurred on the highest-end Crosshair board.
Yeah, my MSI Mag x670e Tomahawk is showing 1.3v in BIOS and HWinfo/Aida 64, and I haven't had any more problems since updating to that BIOS on April 28. The BIOS I was using when it failed was removed from MSI's site. I just got the latest AGESA update recently. EXPO is now enabled... performance was left too low, so I didn't run it.
That's understandable. I'll keep EXPO disabled until the 2x32gb setup is ready and ASUS handles the issue. Am I secure with that?
