Hi Gabi,
Your Asus RT-AC68U is behaving oddly with the connection speed. It keeps switching between 100Mb/s and 1Gb/s depending on when the device or router restarts. You mentioned trying different cables, ports, and even firmware updates, but it still works for one setting and not another. Have you checked if there are any firmware updates available for this model? Also, ensure the Ethernet cable is properly connected and consider testing with another network adapter to rule out hardware issues. Let me know what you find!

Do you have all of your client devices, including the wired ones, with full 10/100/1000 speeds?

Do your connections meet CAT 5 or better standards? Have you verified logging into your router to observe autonegotiation? Have you attempted using a fresh CAT 5E or superior cable straight from the router?

WAN and one device use CAT 6 cables while another uses CAT 5. Speed drops seem unpredictable across different cables. I mixed ready-made ones with some homemade versions (same result). Even after cleaning the connectors with isopropyl alcohol and a brush, no issues were noted in the logs. I’m planning to share the data but it contains personal information like MAC addresses, IPs, and names.
