Hi I recently bought 32gb of G-skill 3600 memory for my Aorus Elite based PC. Its F4-3600C18D-32GTZN and was on a special deal at Amazon. The ram is listed on G-skill's web as compatible with the board, but I cannot get it to run at the full 3600, only 3200. Enabling xmp reads the profile from the ram correctly(?) but the board sets the speed to 3200 not 3600. Attempting to manually adjust the timings to push it any faster results in 3 cold boot resets and the ram defaulting to its base clock. G-skill have told me that the ram could be faulty and I can RMA it, however I’m wondering if its a motherboard issue as looking around various forums is suggesting that the Aorus Elite is picky with its ram and several folk have had problems running ram above 3200. Since I got the ram from Amazon I am fairly sure I can return it – since G-Skill have told me to rma it – but need to find some ram that works. So… Is anyone running ram at 3600 successfully on a Gigabyte Aorus Eliet and if so what make and model no are you using? Many thanks in advance.

The mainboard is a Gigabyte Aorus Elite (x570) and the processor is an AMD Ryzen 3600.

Slot 2: Enable XMP and set DRAM voltage to 1.35V for optimal performance.
Slot 4: Adjust SOC voltage up to 1.1 to enhance stability.
Lastly, ensure the BIOS is updated to the latest release for better memory compatibility.

Verify the QVL list for the right CPU family. Issues with your GB x570UD and Ryzen 3100 resolved after BIOS updates, allowing compatibility with the latest version in November/December.

Ignore the QVL lists; manufacturers rarely refresh those after a few months post-release, and updates often stall once BIOS tweaks memory compatibility. Prioritize at least the F21 bios, which promise memory improvements. F30 and F31o might not benefit from your CPU, leaving it up to you whether to upgrade. The F30 mainly adjusts AGESA for Ryzen 5xxx support, while F31o adds more and enables resizable BAR for certain cards—only relevant if you have a Radeon 6xxx with that feature. Later updates like F31o are likely beta and won’t help much, so stick with F21. Check CPU-Z or Aida64 settings; ensure memory operates at 1.35V at 3600Hz—consider bumping to 1.36V if needed. Raising the SOC voltage isn’t necessary but could help slightly. Place cards in correct slots improves performance. Avoid RMA unless you’re sure; faulty parts are unlikely and may come back with replacements or repairs. It’s better to exchange them for another set and spend a few extra dollars.

Thanks for the details. The specifications are F30, F31o is beta (with a small 'o'), and G-Skill advised upgrading until they confirmed compatibility with your current RAM type. According to the manual, the RAM operates at 1.358v and 3200MHz but won't increase further. Amazon's Dimms can return, but you're wondering what alternatives exist. This chip is meant for Ryzan, yet it doesn't quite fit your board—what other options are available?
