Hey everyone, I just moved my PC from a Ryzen 5 2600 to an FX 8350 with fresh Windows and a new disk. I installed CS:GO and every time I join a map it crashes because loading takes too long and Windows thinks something is wrong. I’ve reinstalled both games multiple times, but the problem persists. I’m really stuck and can’t play CS:GO anymore. Any help would be super appreciated! Thanks.

You started with a Ryzen 5 2600 and moved to an FX-8350 or vice versa. If you switched to the FX-8350, return right away. The FX-8350 is a Celeron model, which differs from the Ryzen 5 2600.

I realize I sold my PC, so I can't... but I'm getting an Xeon. This machine is terrible without Hyper-Threading; it's just until my Xeon from AliExpress comes in...

This concerns the CS:GO problem, not my CPU. It could help, but I was hoping for more money to upgrade my GPU, which ended up making things worse. So don’t get greedy.

Well, it might be that the FX-8350 doesn't have instruction sets that CS:GO needs (e.g. FX is too old). Nothing you can do in this case, though if anyone else has any other ideas feel free to chime in.

Absolutely, that's not what it sounds like. Let me know if you'd like to clarify!

This discussion about the FX series being too outdated to support a game is really getting me nostalgic... But honestly, CS:GO predates the FX series, so that’s not the main point. Can you play other titles smoothly? Do you have more than 4GB of RAM? I’d start by regenerating your CFG folder—navigate to "Wherever you store your Steam folder" and open Steam\SteamApps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo, then rename the CFG folder to something like CFGbackup. The game should create a default CFG folder on future launches, especially after hardware changes, which I’ve noticed can cause odd problems before.

I've got 8GB of storage, but the problem isn't with CS:GO itself—it begins loading normally, yet you notice Windows reporting issues or the program not responding. Usually, the system reporter would display a time estimate or a dialog offering two choices: wait or close. You can click "wait" to let the map load and play, after which it will allow you to proceed. Recently, I installed Windows 10 fresh and saw only one option: "Close," but the notification still appeared briefly before closing instantly. Now I have a new drive, and my fresh Windows doesn’t show any notifications at all—it closes immediately. Any suggestions on how to disable this behavior?
