Hey there! I recently got a 4K display (LG C1 48). After buying it, I've faced some frustrating problems with my games. They tend to freeze every 10 seconds or so, dropping to just one frame every few seconds. This happens no matter the game mode—fullscreen, windowed, or borderless. It only seems to reset when I close and reopen the game for a short time. The issue started after switching to 4K resolution. I have a 3090 and a 10850K, so it doesn’t look like my system is struggling with performance. Also, pressing Alt+Tab shows all other windows working normally, but once I return to the game, it freezes again. Anyone else experience this? Any solutions besides cleaning Windows? Thanks! (I’m on Windows 11 now, though I didn’t have problems before)

What kind of cable are you using—HDMI or display? Which game are you attempting to run in 4K, and are you confirming the frame rate limits match the monitor’s settings? It might be that your display is over-synchronizing, which can lead to lag or noticeable flickering. On my LG screen, I keep it at a basic level; if it feels too responsive, it may cause issues. If you posted this in the incorrect category, one of the mods would likely move it to the right place for clarity. They’re helpful and understanding goes a long way.

I'm watching TV with an HDMI cable, but certain games keep causing problems. Horizon: Zero Dawn and Forza Horizon 5 are the main ones. The issue isn't with the FPS settings or the GSync/FreeSync; it's something else entirely. Ugh.

It seems you're experiencing input lag because you're using both a TV and an HDMI connection together.

TVs usually show a delay of around one to three seconds, which affects gaming performance. This is why many PC players avoid using TVs for gaming. Few people discuss it because it’s often assumed everyone understands the issue.
