Issues following the installation of the new Vcard and PSU
I’m seeking guidance on how to begin this process and am hoping someone can direct me correctly. Here’s what I have:
I own a system I created five years ago, which has performed reliably. I wanted to upgrade the old 2060 RTX card and also replace the PSU because I noticed some inconsistent fan noise that sounded like a failing fan. The setup originally included:
- ASRock Z490 Phantom Gaming 4/2.5G LGA 1200 Intel
- Intel Core i5-10600K
- 32GB (4x8GB) Kingston Memory KVR26N19S8/8 ValueRAM DDR4 8 GB DIMM 288-pin
- EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 SC Ultra GAMING, 6GB GDDR6
- EVGA 750 BQ 110-BQ-0750-V1 80+ BRONZE 750W
I decided to swap it with these:
- ASUS The SFF-Ready Prime GeForce RTX™ 5060 8GB GDDR7 OC Edition Graphics Card (PCIe® 5.0, 8GB GDDR7)
- ASUS Prime 750W Gold (750 Watt, ATX 3.0 Compatible)
When installing the new PSU, I encountered a problem: I couldn’t find a matching cable, but I noticed a 4-pin connector on the MB slot next to an 8-pin ATX 12V power connector labeled (ATX12V2). The old PSU had that 4-pin included in its wiring and was connected. I read it was optional for extra power, mainly for overclocking, so I didn’t worry much about it.
Could this 4-pin be related to the OC mode on the motherboard? Also, since the VGA card is factory overclocked, should I be concerned about it?
After assembling everything, I’m experiencing crashes—random black screens and reboots when launching games. Sometimes it freezes, other times just shows a black screen before restarting. I found a help article suggesting a firmware update for the 5060 could fix the boot issue, but I’m not sure if that’s still valid. The crashes seem to occur during gameplay, so I haven’t tried that yet.
The hardware monitor didn’t display any overheating warnings, but I’m not very familiar with event logs or diagnostics, so I thought it would be wise to seek advice from more experienced users.

Regarding the EPS connectors located in the top left corner of the motherboard, there are two available: ATX12V1 and ATX12V2. You should ensure that the ATX12V1 is connected using an 8-pin EPS connector from your power supply unit. The ATX12V2 is intended to provide extra power to the CPU, especially if you're aiming for high overclocks.

If yes, you’ll see that both EPS connectors are 2x8-pin and can be converted into 4+4-pin connectors, as mentioned on the site:

Concerning your GPU upgrade, did you use DDU before replacing the GPU? If not, consider using DDU in Safe Mode to uninstall all GPU drivers (Intel, AMD, Nvidia), then restart and manually install the newest driver from Nvidia’s support site via an elevated command—such as right-clicking the installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
As for your motherboard, which BIOS version are you currently using?
