I recently purchased an R7 5800X3D, installed it, but nothing functioned properly. There was no power, the motherboard indicator didn’t show anything, and even USB ports provided electricity. When I tried connecting my old CPU, it wouldn’t boot with both RAM sticks together, but worked fine with just one. I assumed a BIOS update was the issue, but I had the latest F65b version for this model needing F60. What should I do? I returned the CPU since it seemed faulty, but now I’m stuck with only one RAM stick. I’ve cleared CMOS, reset the BIOS, yet nothing works. Should I go buy a new 5800X3D or is there a chance my motherboard failed during this process? Thanks, Old Build.
Sure, that sounds like it could be an aftermarket CPU cooler.
Adjust the CPU cooler or take it out entirely and check if it runs smoothly with two dims.
I just attempted this, but it didn’t work. After taking out the second stick, it doesn’t even start up with the remaining one.
This seems like a rather unusual problem. Since the CPU didn’t function initially, I considered BIOS settings. Have you tested both RAM modules in separate slots? Did you attempt to start the system after updating the BIOS with the new CPU? It’s conceivable that either the CPU socket or a RAM port was damaged. It should work if you use slots 3 and 4. If that’s the case, one of the RAM slots might be faulty. I’d have tried updating the BIOS and then reinstalling the 5800x3d in the same slot to check if the issue was with the socket. Best of luck, soldier!
