Issues encountered during CPU overclocking of the I7-6700K processor.
Hello, I'm facing a problem that's been puzzling me after several days of troubleshooting. My Intel i7 processor runs at 4.5GHz, with the CPU voltage set to 1.31V. Any adjustment above that causes a blue screen. Even when I tweak the voltage between 1.24 and 1.4, it still doesn't resolve the issue. I'm maintaining stable temperatures up to 59°C under load and am using an MSI Z170 SLI Plus. Someone could possibly offer guidance? Thank you in advance.
Welcome to the silicon lottery. A handful of chips manage 5GHz, while others struggle beyond 4.5GHz. To be honest, my 6700K is quite poor—it won’t run Cinebench above 4.2GHz (even with turbo). Being able to hit 4.5GHz is a nice thing. You might reach 4.6GHz if the LLC setting is adjusted, but it could be due to a small voltage drop on the default setting. Setting it to 1.4V might actually keep it at 1.3V, and pushing past 4.5GHz usually needs a lot more voltage from the chip. Check HWInfo64 for real running voltage and adjust accordingly, though your device might simply not support 4.6GHz.
You use water to dilute or adjust the concentration of the 59° solution.
