hello everyone, when I turned on DOCP I encountered issues with MemTest86 (Corsair Vengeance 2x16GB DDR5 6000MHz CL36). it only happens on one stick out of two. - both sticks together cause errors (A2 + B2 on the motherboard) - one stick alone shows errors. - the second stick works fine. likely one of the two is defective? should I bring it back to the store? thanks! spec: 78003dx ASUS B650M-E tuf gaming (latest BIOS update)

You might want to check the stick setting issues.

Did you verify both slots or only tested one stick in each? I'm checking both A2 and B2 to rule out memory or board issues. A single error might point to a CPU or RAM problem, while errors on both suggest a motherboard fault.

Ensure pairs are collected; return both items as requested.

I didn't grasp your request. The issue appears in all slots. I'll send it back, please.

I bought it as a set, not separately, so it should be handled through a return process. It’s frustrating because you don’t have a PC available right now.

It's unlikely they'll fit together as a single unit. The parts don't match up correctly.

They meant purchasing a set together and sending it back through RMA to the maker. That way, only one component needs to be replaced because of the specific guidelines from brands like G.Skill, Corsair, TeamGroup, etc. If you sent it back via a retailer such as Amazon, Newegg, or Micro Center, you'd receive a completely new package.

They are paired sets, you must return the entire unit (a pair) not just part of it. It’s impossible to align one piece with its counterpart without having the full set to verify tolerances. This method lets them market devices designed for overclocking. When searching for a lower model number, it usually comes from the same manufacturer, on the same line, but it didn’t perform as well, so it’s priced lower as a slower variant. Mass production of solid-state electronics has consistently followed this pattern: a 1N4006 is essentially a 1N4007 that failed at 1000V testing but passed at 800V, etc.

Never encountered an RMA request for RAM before. G.Skill (my familiar vendor, though other brands appear to follow similar procedures) accepts only the faulty sticks themselves. They need to identify the specific memory IC on the unit. They possess sufficient expertise to analyze the IC model and its specifications from the stick they receive.
