Hello! I'm facing a tricky issue. On my mom's PC, I can't unpack any .rar files properly. Every time I try, I see "checksum error" or "packed data checksum error." The problem keeps happening over time. This machine was reinstalled at least five times, and it doesn't matter if I use Windows 8.1 or Win 7. It's frustrating because the CPU model is listed as AMD Phenom II X4 960T Black Edition, but I'm not sure why it's not available on AMD's site. Any details you can share would help.

I’m attempting this again, though I suspect the previous methods didn’t succeed.

It seems like you're wondering about a potential issue related to reinstalling Windows and some HDDs that weren't formatted. There could be a connection between the reinstall process and these drives, especially if you're storing data on them.

These issues often stem from faulty RAM. Consider testing with MemTest86, available at the provided link.

I also used 7Zip and got the same issue. Memory testing is underway; here’s the link to the screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/idwtwhr.jpg /edit: http://i.imgur.com/t2GeUAz.jpg. No errors detected.

Is there a chance the internet connection is unstable? Files might not be saved completely.

Speed and dependability are different concepts. It might also mean the browser isn't fully downloading the file. This can happen if the connection to the source is weak. In short, if it affects all files no matter where they come from, it's not a network problem.
