Hello everyone! I hope all is well with you, and please take a moment to appreciate anyone who reads this and shares their insights.
Right now, I’m using a Digital Storm Lynx Version 3 PC equipped with an Intel Core i7-9700F (8 cores), a GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB, 240 GB SSD, and 2 TB Seagate Storage. This machine was purchased in August 2019, which means it’s been around for over five years now. I haven’t made any upgrades or added new components since then.
In recent months, I’ve experienced some problems where the PC would crash or freeze during different tasks. These issues started with playing a video game and continuing to multiple activities online—like browsing with several tabs open. Even though these games aren’t too demanding, my PC froze while running a 2017 title called Shadow of Morodar. When this happens, I perform a hard reset and restart the system. After rebooting, the monitor may turn on, but the screen remains dark. It sometimes takes several attempts to get back to the desktop, only for it to resume normally eventually.
I’ve also tested the monitor, and it seems to work fine during resets, showing the AOC logo and acknowledging when plugged in—suggesting no hardware problems with the display or connection.
Unfortunately, the freezing/shutting down issue returned this past Monday, and despite multiple attempts, I’m still unable to get the monitor to function properly when the PC is on. I’ve tried resetting it repeatedly each day since then, but the problem persists.
On Monday, I managed to turn on my PC, but it crashed while using the internet browser. After a successful restart, it crashed again when trying to browse. I was able to recover the system for a third time, but the PC froze during startup—especially when launching EA Play and Battlenet automatically. Since then, I’ve been hard resetting the PC in hopes of fixing the monitor, but the issue remains consistent.
The mouse and keyboard lights up, yet the screen stays off. I suspect this isn’t a hardware fault with the monitor or its wiring.
This situation has been frustrating, and I’m considering several possibilities: hardware faults (like RAM or hard drive issues), malware infections, or even problems with the monitor itself or its connections. Based on what I’ve observed, I’m not ruling out a monitor or power outlet issue entirely.
My advice would be to consult a professional repair service, as this seems complex. However, before investing in repairs, I’d like to explore any self-help steps I can take. My goal is to avoid unnecessary expenses unless all other options are exhausted.
Given the age of my PC and my desire for upgrades, I’m leaning toward replacing it entirely. I was planning a PC upgrade soon, but realizing that additional parts might need replacement beyond the CPU and GPU makes buying a new machine more appealing. Still, I want to gather as much information as possible before making any decisions.
