Issues arising from system instability when GPU memory is overclocked
Overclocking anything leads to system instability, I understand. Does excessive overclocking trigger sudden shutdowns even in BIOS? At the moment, I adjusted my Radeon R7 240's maximum GPU core clock to 780mhz and memory to 800mhz, which matches the rated speeds. I also set memory to 900mhz during a gaming Valorant mid-deathmatch session, and the PC shut down abruptly. I’m now reverting it back to 800mhz to see if that resolves the issue.
Many factors such as excessive heat and low power supply might lead to shutdowns. Consider using FurMark to stress your GPU and VRAM further without damaging your game.
