Approximately three months ago, I purchased an eGPU configuration that included the AOOSTAR AG02 eGPU and a 9060XT 16GB GPU. Although it functioned adequately most of the time, the system would frequently encounter unstable crashes and disconnections. I managed to operate without issues for several days at a time, but would be severely affected by multiple incidents in quick succession. After spending a month trying to resolve the problem, I ultimately decided to return both the 9060XT and the AOOSTAR AG02 dock, suspecting they might be faulty. The 9060XT turned out to be in good condition, and AOOSTAR responded yesterday with a refund, attributing the instability to an "incompatibility between the AG02 and your device." Since AOOSTAR support is unavailable on weekends, I plan to seek a more detailed explanation next week. However, I’m reaching out to the forum for suggestions on what might be causing this incompatibility. Personally, I believe there are existing eGPU builds available here that closely match my laptop’s specs. One such build featured the same laptop model but with different specifications—specifically, an AMD CPU and a NVIDIA GPU instead of the AG02. I’m puzzled as to why my configuration would be incompatible. Could there be a problem with my USB 4.0 port that might be resolved? I’m hoping for some guidance, as I might need to consider another eGPU dock in the future.

If you managed to obtain another device, it’s possible you could have identified the issue as stemming from the BIOS on the platform or the VBIOS on the GPU. Keep in mind that even if your processor, APU, RAM, and GPU match the specifications listed for a test build, the dock manufacturer may not possess the identical BIOS for your setup. It’s advisable to reach out to the eGPU dock manufacturer ahead of time to confirm compatibility with your laptop or GPU before purchasing. This prevents delays and avoids the need for a refund processing period.
