Thanks for the update! I’ve confirmed both browsers have hardware acceleration enabled, and performance has improved noticeably over the past couple of days. Usually, a simple restart helps if there are issues. Regarding the SSD comment, you probably meant its longevity or health. I’ll review that as well. Good to know SSD costs are reasonable, so replacing one later won’t be too costly. Lol!
Health is uncertain at the moment, you might also think about returning to version 10.
Sure, I'm taking it seriously. While I appreciate the idea of Windows 11, I'm still a bit hesitant about it. I enjoy having several desktops and the convenience of quickly switching between them. From Windows' perspective, the SSDs seem to be in good shape. I might try swapping out the boot drive to test things out, since it's been a while. Given its age, maybe replacing the hard drive could help. Also, disabling hardware acceleration seemed to improve my web browsing experience.
You might want to run a memory test to verify RAM placement. Is your RAM correctly positioned at A2 and B2? You could also perform a Cinebench23 assessment, share the result, and compare it with the same CPU.
Windows odd behavior often points to a driver or storage problem. For drivers, check the Device Manager and verify there are no errors. Visit the manufacturer’s site to download the latest drivers compatible with your hardware. Regarding drives, try creating a separate partition on your game drive, move your system drive there, and install Windows on the new partition to see if it resolves the issue. It might also be a hardware-related problem with the motherboard—this will likely require further investigation.
Yep... that final line sounds about right after following many suggestions. Memory was verified, Windows got a fresh start with all drivers reinstalled, and SSDs are looking good. All updates completed. The only hiccup was AMD graphics drivers for my iGPU, which might have helped but could be a placebo. Windows is stable overall. There are some minor slowdowns, mainly from browsers with hardware acceleration off. Floatplane is the worst but refreshes work eventually. YouTube usually needs a few restarts, then runs fine. Both Steam and GOG download quickly, reaching 700-800 Mbps. My iPad streams without problems. I’ll check this weekend and consider switching back to Windows 10 if needed, though it had issues before. I didn’t start from a clean MOBO setup initially, so a fresh install was part of my first attempt. The third try made a big difference.
For those reading this: I had to perform a full system reset. Removed every partition from my boot disk before starting fresh and switched back to Windows 10. Drivers were updated during the process. Everything seems to be working smoothly so far. The next plan is to replace the SSD if this solution isn’t sustainable in the future.
