In Red Dead Redemption 2 the game often freezes and crashes whenever I try to enter a saloon. The issue occurs even with medium settings—textures are ultra, other aspects are medium—and I’m seeing between 50 and 70 frames per second. It doesn’t just happen at low settings, though my frame rate only increases slightly. My CPU stays under 50% usage. My PC specs: i5 12600K, GTX 1070, 16GB DDR4 RAM at 3600MHz.

Could you clarify your age? I need to know if you're under 18 or 21.

I believe this occurs regularly whenever I attempt to enter a busy space or environment where the system struggles to load everything properly. It seems unusual because only my GPU is fully active at 100%, and there’s no indication of thermal issues.

My previous PC used a 1070 and handled RDR2 smoothly. I suspect the GPU isn't the main issue. I'll start by lowering texture settings from ultra, which might be draining VRAM. It's unlikely, though. Then I'll reinstall both the game and the Nvidia drivers. Are there any crashes in other titles?

VRAM usage stays under 6.5 gb and doesn't depend on texture settings; it causes crashes only when high. I'm having issues specifically with RDR2.

I understand Monkey Dust’s point, so I’ll try reducing the texture quality for testing. It might help if you set it to a lower setting. What game are you playing? I tested RDR2 on an i5 4690K with a GTX 960 and 4GB RAM—no crashes, though it ran a bit shaky at around 29 frames per second. Your system should handle it well.
