Issue with XMP profile on MSI B450 Tomahawk Max
Hi, I assembled my PC with an experienced friend. It has 3600MHz RAM (two 8GB units), but it defaults to 2667MHz. After entering BIOS to enable the XMP profile and set it to 3600MHz, everything saved properly. After rebooting, I checked via NZXT Cam and Task Manager and still saw 2667MHz. I’m confused because the XMP profile isn’t working. My CPU is a Ryzen 5 2600, I have Corsair Vengeance LPX3600 and an MSI B450 Tomahawk Max.
Run CPU-Z to verify the speed. It should display 1800Mhz, which matches the expected value. DDR operates at double rate, converting 1800Mhz to 3600Mhz.
Corsair Vengeance LPX16GB (2x 8GB) uses DDR4 3600 timings with speeds of 18-22-22-42.
Check if manual operation is supported. Refresh the BIOS and chipset drivers. Ensure RAM is installed in slots 2 and 4.
Adjusting manually had no effect either. RAM is set to 2 and 4, updates will occur tomorrow if a new USB stick is needed.
