Hey there, I noticed you're facing a frustrating issue with your Samsung 850 EVO and Windows 7. The update process isn't working as expected, even after reinstalling both your PC and your friend's Toshiba laptop. It seems like the settings for checking updates aren't triggering correctly, leaving you stuck with just a green progress bar. I'm not sure what's going on, but it's definitely affecting your experience. Anyone have any suggestions or solutions? Thanks!

The initial update verification process is slow. Please wait, as it records your PC on the servers, transmits hardware details, activation status, and installed updates, then fetches a large file—possibly over a megabyte.

It's unusual you're facing a problem during a fresh setup. Try using the Windows Update Troubleshooter found in the control panel.

I've heard about that site, but all my computers have installed a lot of updates in just 20 seconds.

I've tested it already and it flags an issue with the update process, but it doesn't resolve it. The only update available is KB976902, and online sources warn against installing it. Right now I'm searching for a tool to remove it and check if it updates properly.

There isn't a straightforward way to do this. It's currently w10, but it should be possible in w7 as well.

I don't remember right now but there is a folder where windows collects up the windows update downloads/cache,you can try deleting that or try again in safe mode Normally I get flooded with updates, with new installs. By the way did you try restarting?

Restarted multiple times, attempted safe mode and cleared the folder—still no luck. Followed online instructions but nothing works. Ugh, I hate Toshiba.

Check the official Microsoft site for the Windows update troubleshooter tool. The link you mentioned doesn’t appear to exist. It seems the information might be missing or mislabeled. If you’re having issues, try restarting your device or contacting support for further help.
