Issue with Windows 11 task bar Need assistance resolving this problem
I just moved to 12900k with Windows 11 installed. After a fresh setup, everything seems to be working except the task bar after reboot. Native apps won’t open from the task bar, and the Windows File Explorer isn’t accessible either. Plugging in a USB headphone doesn’t help, and pressing Win+R gives no response. I’ve applied all updates, drivers, and BIOS changes. Should I reinstall Windows or try a simpler solution?
It seems there may be an issue with the setup. Consider attempting a repair or reinstalling it completely.
I observe the file I am presenting indicates explorer.exe is experiencing issues. Several factors could cause this, such as defective drivers, missing components, updates that modified explorer.exe, or a non-responsive storage device. In your case, here are some actions: Start by checking your RAM for faults using tools like memtest86 or Windows memory tester within recovery options. If everything appears intact, proceed with the following steps. Verify the condition of your main drive and back up any important files, as we will erase the disk and restart from the beginning. Re-download the Windows 11 installation media from Microsoft’s website using the Media Creation Tool on a functioning system, and place the USB drive there. On the new machine, confirm the connection type (NVMe or SATA) and ensure UEFI settings are correct—specifically, that the system uses AHCI mode for your hardware. If using a SATA drive, verify it’s connected to the correct port and that the controller is set to Intel SATA Controller in UEFI. Insert the prepared Windows 11 USB drive and boot from it to complete installation. If your primary drive is SATA-based, select "Load drivers" during partition selection; for M.2 NVMe, skip this step or use the appropriate driver. When removing the USB drive to transfer drivers, ensure you’re using the correct files (typically .inf extensions) and avoid executable or zip files. After installation, check for updates, install only essential system drivers, and exclude unnecessary software. Disable any security programs temporarily, as they might interfere with Windows 11. Use Edge for browsing if needed. Keep your graphics card, chipset, audio, wireless, and Ethernet components in good condition. If everything checks out, you can proceed to install Chrome and other applications. If issues persist, investigate further to identify the exact cause.
