I managed to upgrade to Windows 10 using a clean installation of the downloaded ISO. Now I’m facing the issue of not having a valid activation key for Windows 10. I was previously on Windows 7 and had an upgrade reserved, but it never processed. I also performed a clean install to avoid any installation complications from 7 to 10. I thought obtaining a new key via email would be easier since I had the reservation, but I wasn’t aware that the free upgrade process might require activating 7 first. Microsoft advised me to reinstall 7 and then proceed with the upgrade, but I’m unsure if that will resolve the problem. I’ve re-installed Windows 7 several times, changed some hardware, and even after using my existing key, it didn’t activate properly. I’m worried that upgrading from what appears to be an invalid 7 version won’t work either. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Ensure you're using a valid Win7/8 copy and consider the upgrade tool for retaining your product key. A fresh installation will remove all records of prior keys.

I'm facing the same issue. Considering a tough decision and spending around $200 to remove this annoying watermark.

It seems you're referring to a specific key combination or code. Could you clarify what you mean? I'm here to help with any questions you have!

You should have upgraded to version 10 and performed a fresh installation. This process links your hardware ID with Microsoft, allowing activation using a standard key.

I wasn't aware I could have done that, but I suppose I'll give it another shot starting at 7. If that works, I might try 10 next. Usually I push things a bit too far.
