Issue with Windows 10 activation
I realize now, but it remains an annoyance since you begin by speaking to a computer first. Of course they do this during chats too. Just mention random topics and the system gets mixed up and shuts down. Sounds terrible, yet I’ve reinstalled Windows multiple times trying to fix driver problems on my machine. Still, I haven’t lost anything due to power spikes—perhaps that’s what an ups provides.
I can easily reinstall the whole operating system from a USB drive, but even then it will treat my PC as a different device and won’t start. I’d need a product key or find a way to change my hardware classification to 'OEM-free'. Luckily, I didn’t have to spend much money, though many others have faced similar issues with Windows 10 Pro. That was disappointing. I thought the problems with activation were behind us, but they’re still happening. I’m planning to ask M$, and if they can’t help, I might install Ubuntu instead.
Purchasing Windows or using a prebuilt device comes with two options: OEM and retail. The OEM version isn’t transferable, so don’t hold Microsoft responsible.
It seems you're facing an issue with Ubuntu not supporting the software you need. You might want to test it in a virtual machine to determine if the problem lies with the Windows version installed.
Sure, I’m using the student credentials offered by the university now. There’s no limit on questions, and the activation count is unlimited. Of course, I recall when I only had OEM keys.
