Hi, this is the thread I shared a while back. Recently, I acquired a TP-LINK 5V, 2A adapter. https://forums. I’m uncertain about the problem, but I strongly suspect it’s not related to the adapter or the router itself. Here’s what I did: 1. Connected the router’s rear port to a 3.5mm jack. 2. The LED light changed color to show the source, then flashed red. 3. Then it switched to blue, and after a few seconds devices like my phone reconnected, but it turned back to purple. 4. For PCs, when I entered the login credentials, it would suddenly turn purple—sometimes it worked fine afterward. As shown in the video, I was running a speed test and it briefly turned purple, causing a drop in ISP connection. Router info: https://ibb.co.com/HGgcStF Original adapter details: https://ibb.co.com/mD1K7XB TP-Link model: https://ibb.co.com/kJy6LBM Note: The original adapter was likely damaged due to overvoltage or short circuit.

eventually your router got damaged together with the earlier power supply. Update the firmware if possible, try using a different wan cable to the modem, inspect the modem for any issues, and consult the ISP to see if there are known problems in your area.

The manuals available for TP-Link devices are quite basic and may not provide much value. It seems people rarely read them these days. They usually only indicate that the light should be blue when functioning properly, which doesn’t really explain much beyond that. It’s difficult to tell if the router is restarting or if it’s just losing the internet connection.

It might simply be a loss of internet due to high traffic. If you have a modem connected to the router, try connecting your PC directly to the modem instead. If the speedtest still shows problems, the issue could lie with the router itself. I’d check the firmware to rule out software glitches, but hardware problems are more likely.

Replacing the power supply or adapter is usually not necessary. These devices often fail due to minor issues rather than being worth the cost of professional repair unless you have the right skills and tools. Most consumer electronics become waste when they stop working properly.

I've already contacted the ISP, who confirmed it's the router. While it's on during the purple lights, I can still see Wavlink_XXX on the Wi-Fi.

does the modem maintain an internet link when the wavlink disconnects? which device is it and does it possess a log for troubleshooting? refresh the firmware at that location too.

I adjusted the settings and it appears to be functioning properly. Could this be related to the power adapter or the processor in the router?

If this works it indicates a problem with the radio chip handling 5G Wi-Fi support. It suggests that 2.4G and Ethernet-connected devices should function properly. 2.4G is much slower compared to 5G Wi-Fi. If your device can handle the speed requirements, you might be able to use this approach. Try connecting items that rely on Ethernet over Ethernet to minimize competition for the 2.4G radio frequency. The main solution would likely be replacing the router.
