Issue with Video Card or Network Adapter?
Hi everyone, I’m facing a strange problem with my PC. Whenever the video card loads, the network adapter suddenly turns off and stops functioning. This causes me to lose internet connection when I start a game. At first, I thought it might be related to security settings or antivirus software. I decided to run a stress test on my GPU using FurMark. During the tests, I noticed the Ethernet connection would disconnect with errors like “LAN cable is disconnected” or the network adapter wouldn’t start. I’m not sure if my GPU is consuming too much power, which could be affecting other components such as the network adapter.
My system specs are:
- Asus Prime B450M-A Motherboard
- AMD Ryzen 5 3600G
- AMD Radeon RX 580 Powercolor Devil
- Full modular PSU (750W, one week old)
- Kingston Hyper X Fury DDR4 16GB
Have anyone else encountered this issue? What could be causing it? I’ve already tried updating the network adapter drivers, refreshing the IP via CMD, cleaning DNS cookies, and changing the PSU. Now my PC works properly unless I run a game.

It's not surprising that the PSU is the issue. The warranty for a 2-3 year period is unclear. It's best to get a reliable option first, like the Corsair Rm650x, and then proceed. Modular PSUs need all cables replaced, so don't reuse the original RAM cables with another modular PSU.
It's true I'm feeling uneasy about this PSU brand. My previous ones were FSP and Seasonic, which worked well, but I just bought this Ramsta model because it's the most affordable modular PSU I've seen online. Now I wonder if I'm facing the repercussions.
It's closer to a 650W rating than 750W.
Only 624W is available on the 12V rail.

Perhaps a discrete Ethernet card would be better. The integrated Ethernet controller might be faulty.

I have to agree with the other people here that the PSU is suspect. I'll add that it can also be heat. Interestingly enough, a lower wattage PSU can generate more heat as well if lower efficiency, but the GPU is probably generating heat; if the time to failure is very quick after the GPU is under load, then I would think it is a PSU issue. If instead the time to failure has a slight delay once load starts, then I would tend to favor heat (heat from the GPU takes time to affect other parts, but if it is inadequate PSU, then the effect is likely rather quick to occur once load starts).

mentions is also quite possible. I wouldn't consider it high on probability with PCI-based devices, but it can still occur. My guess is that if this were the issue that the system would have never worked well. One thing you could do is to test this under a Linux "live" DVD/thumb drive distribution, e.g., Ubuntu 22, which does not require actual install (it runs in RAM), and see what shows up. You'd monitor "dmesg --follow" and then put the system under load (it could be as simple as watching one or multiple simultaneous videos from YouTube; videos load both network and GPU). Any errors would imply hardware issues since none of the software is in common with Windows.
I hold a strong grudge against TP Link and D-Link. They've consistently caused me trouble and poor results. If the MB ethernet were a defective or non-functional product, I'd invest in an Asus card if I had the means, or go with a more affordable option if budget was a concern.
