Details: Ryzen 5 3600 GTX 1070ti 32gb (4x8) Corsair Vengeance LPX C15 3000mhz ASRock B450 Steel legend WD Blue SN550 NVMe (Windows install) 240gb Kingston Savage 1tb toshiba drive, 4tb toshiba drive. Last night I powered up my PC after some minor overclocking the previous day (raised CPU from 4.2 to 4.3 using an autoclock, increased GPU by +70 cores and +100 memory which stayed stable), plus I enabled XMP for RAM since I didn’t realize it was disabled and had previously set it to 3000 MHz). Around 20 minutes into a game, my PC turned blue. I thought I should reset the clocks right away as performance wasn’t an issue before, just hoping to get a bit more speed. After restarting, major video/audio stutters returned, so I ran the Windows Memory Test afterward and it confirmed memory issues. I tested each RAM stick separately in its slot and still experienced the same stutters. I’m unsure if this points to a CPU or motherboard fault, or something else entirely, since I don’t want to waste $200 on new RAM just to find out it won’t help. I’ve updated all my drivers, but other problems I’ve encountered seem to stem from faulty RAM or driver conflicts. To be clear, my CPU and motherboard are only about six months old. Two sticks are a year old and two are three years old. I haven’t had any problems before this.

I’m not seeing any hardware acceleration enabled in Windows, and the Chrome version doesn’t have it turned on.

So I ran a different memory test and windows now says that my memory is fine, but my computer is getting even worse audio/video stutters. Would a windows reset help? Also I have noticed that “system interrupts” is at 80-100% CPU usage when opening task manager but it quickly goes away. another update: just got a BSOD saying “Driver Power State Failure”. So it is a problem with drivers? update again: I installed some AMD drivers which seems to very much helped the stutters but my computer is still slow. In overwatch, the game says I am getting 200-250 FPS but it feels like I am getting 30. I made sure it wasn’t a vsync problem. I then tried opening Escape from Tarkov to see if I had similar issues, but upon attempting to open the game, I got met with a BSOD saying “Page Fault In Nonpaged Area”.

So I resolved the issue with my M.2 drive or Windows installation on it. Even after reinstalling Windows or fixing it on an old drive, problems persisted. Every time I attempted driver-related tasks, the computer would crash again. After switching to a brand new Windows install on my old SSD, everything functioned smoothly. Boot time dropped to about 10-15 seconds, and I no longer experience stuttering or installation issues.
