Issue with unusual video playback on OpenSUSE
You're experiencing video issues while watching YouTube on OpenSUSE, especially with your AMD Radeon RX6800. It sounds like the frame rate is unstable or the video is becoming shaky. Since you've installed Linux and the system is running smoothly, the problem might be related to the display settings or GPU configuration. You could try adjusting the video resolution, enabling hardware acceleration, or checking for any graphics drivers that might need updating. If the issue persists, consider testing with a different browser or device.
Which browser are you operating with? Can you describe the rest of your configuration? Have you checked whether it’s leveraging hardware acceleration or handling decoding through software?
Browser: Firefox
Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming
Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi 2
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
I don’t understand the hardware acceleration part or what that last bit meant.
set up nvtop, keep it running, watch a video to check if the decoder section grows in activity. Also observe whether your CPU usage rises while the video plays. If hardware decoding is active, expect minimal CPU impact and the decoder bar should consume some resources, whereas software decoding might show higher CPU consumption.
