Issue with unsatisfactory performance
Issue with unsatisfactory performance
Hello! I made some changes to the wording while keeping the original meaning and tone intact. The structure and details remain the same.
Check the BIOS version on your motherboard. I assumed the CPU issue was the cause, but cores are running at 25-80% usage with temperatures between 70-80°C. I would have upgraded to the X3D model or moved away from the APU. A note: these games aren't well optimized, but people streaming with higher FPS on similar setups might be misleading. Consider mentioning the specs of those who claim to run the same games on weaker systems. If you're using YT, don't trust everything posted there. Use DDU to remove all GPU drivers (Intel, Nvidia, AMD) in Safe Mode, then install the latest driver from AMD's support site via an elevated command. PSU: Corsair RM1000x 1000w. How old is your PSU? Besides the four titles listed, what other games have you run on it?
System details indicate: American Megatrends Inc. 5404, 18-Mar-24
In the near future I plan to replace the motherboard, RAM, and processor, so I won’t purchase a marginally improved CPU that would fit my existing configuration, as it would exceed my budget.
Typically these setups match mine for mining purposes, but when adjusting from high to low performance levels, I often only achieve a few frames during gameplay on the configurations I’ve tried. For instance, a Marvel Rivals streamer upgraded to a 4070ti and maintained around 200 fps, which is manageable at 140+ on most settings with low performance. A friend uses a slightly better CPU—3080ti running PoE2 at ultra wide 1440p—and consistently achieves higher frame rates across the board, even in a hideout without mobs to load.
I intend to try this again, but I did exactly this after installing the GPU.

Played Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, though it’s capped at 60fps, and I sometimes found it hard to maintain that speed on most settings.
Last Epoch also saw limited frame rates, generally between 100-150 fps.
Path of Exile 1 was demanding, especially with hard content; performance varies widely from 3 to 165+ FPS depending on the challenge.
There could be background bloat affecting my system, but streaming takes priority, so I should see better FPS numbers. Benchmarks suggest something is amiss—my card is about 15% below the average 7900 xtx, while my tuning settings are above average, indicating a potential issue. It seems reasonable to assume one of the top GPUs on the market could handle over 165 fps at 1440p in non-CPU-heavy games.
This 5700g is not helping much. The limited cache is holding things back significantly. Please make sure XMP is activated for your RAM. It seems Asus refers to this as DOCP.
After digging a bit deeper, I'm unsure whether purchasing a new AM4 CPU or upgrading the motherboard, RAM, and CPU makes the most sense. From what I understand, the AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D offers a noticeable performance increase for its price, while moving to AM5 might provide better overall speed but at a higher cost. As a student with limited funds, buying the 5700X3D seems feasible, though I’d need to wait until summer to upgrade to AM5. The main uncertainty is whether the 5700X3D would really outperform the RX 7900 XTX in meaningful ways and if it would be beneficial until AM6. Alternatively, delaying the upgrade might be smarter. I’m also unclear about how much DDR5 would actually improve my gaming experience compared to DDR4. I don’t have enough expertise to decide confidently, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!
