Hello, I configured a "Basic VPN" using L2TP and followed all the instructions. I entered them into Windows VPN, but it’s not connecting. I have a Unifi Security Gateway and a Sky Q router acting as a modem. I need help setting this up to access network drives remotely and enable remote desktop connections to my server. Any advice would be helpful.

Is your device connected to the same local network as the VPN, or is it on another network and the connection isn't functioning?

You're attempting to connect to the VPN on another network to reach your remote network drives.
