Issue with the Ram light being off or failing to power on.
hello, i’m trying to give away my old pc to my brother. it was functioning properly until i removed the power supply unit and bought a new one. after reconnecting everything, the RGB light didn’t activate during boot or show up on the monitor. i replaced the ram and used it in my new system—it worked fine, so the issue isn’t with the ram. i also took out the CMOS, waited 30 seconds, and then reinserted it but still got nothing. any suggestions on what to do next?
Consider rearranging the RAM in various DIMM slots or starting the computer using only one RAM stick. This issue occurred with my friend's setup too—switching to a different RAM stick resolved it, and I simply turned off the system and inserted the second stick into the same slot.
Consider removing one RAM stick, inserting the other into a DIMM slot, and restarting the system. If it still doesn’t boot, power down the PC and swap the RAM in with the next slot. Repeat this process until one works. If neither sticks functions, set aside the faulty one and test the remaining one using the other. For guidance, check Linus's old NCIX video on "PC not Posting" which explains the issue.
It's feasible but I'd also try the original unit you took out and see if it works again. If it functions properly, it suggests the new PSU isn't causing issues. I've personally tested this—everything I use works except for one board (Impact VIII) and another identical PSU.
When assembling my new PC, I overlooked formatting the SSD. I had Windows installed, but I used the old PSU I'd been using for two years. I added the 1050Ti after removing the GPU, but it wouldn't boot. It seemed like the only change was the GPU, yet I couldn't format the SSD in that way.
