Issue with the newly installed graphics card
I just completed assembling a new PC and after installing the new GPU it keeps cycling on and off without starting. I checked everything carefully—no issues with the connections or power supply. Everything works fine when the GPU isn’t connected. I searched extensively online but found no solutions. This is my first build and I’m really disappointed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Check if GPU has its own power port and isn't connected in series. Confirm the power source isn't coming from the CPU connector on the PSU. Updated January 4, 2024 by venomtail I'm dyslexic today ffs
The easiest method to check the GPU and motherboard is having a friend who can swap their GPU. This helps confirm if theirs works in your PC, avoids issues with the PCIE lane, and tests if your GPU functions in theirs. As for BIOS updates, it’s worth checking if yours is current. Resetting the CMOS can also resolve problems. Many people share experiences about older BIOS versions working fine with newer ones.
This power supply is completely terrible. It's a F tier item—replace it right away. My girlfriend used one.
Also consider testing each component individually to determine if a shutdown is caused by power or electricity issues. Start with the PC powered on but without RAM, then without storage, and so on. It seems the problem might be related to power or electricity.
